2014年7月2日,中国少数民族体育协会第五届会员代表大会第二次全体会议在贵州省惠水县召开,来自全国29个省(自治区、直辖市)民族、体育和民族高校的代表参加了会议。湖北省民宗委副主任邓汉光在大会上作题为“积极争取各方支持,全力推进湖北民族体育事业发展”的经验交流发言。湖北民族体育工作得到中国少数民族体协领导和与会代表的充分肯定。湖北是一个多民族省份,全省现有55个少数民族成份,少数民族人口近300万人,占全省总人口的4.68%。历年来,省委、省政府高度重视少数民族传统体育事业的发展,在政策法规、组织、经费和机制上给予保障,民族传统体育事业
