形成于“轴心时代”的元典命题“人文以化成天下”奠定了中和人文精神的基础内涵。这种人文精神,在人与自然的关系上,顺自然而以人为本;在人与社会关系上,循人伦而以和为本;在人与自我关系上,重体验而以乐为本。“循天道,尚人文”的人文倾向、“致中和,得其分”的中和境界以及“崇礼乐,赞化育”的美育工夫,这三者构成了中华人文精神由内而外、由体而用,由境界而工夫的基本内涵和总体风貌,也成了中华传统精神文化共通的精神和最基本和最突出的特征。
