Whether the “economic man” rational hypothesis should exist in the socialist economic analysis should have different answers in different economic systems. At present, our country’s economic system is undergoing fundamental changes. We should re-judge this issue. The author believes that although this hypothesis is proposed, revised, supplemented and developed by western economists, it contains the individual’s value orientation and code of conduct in the commodity economy and expounds the basic characteristics and general laws of the commodity economy. Today, we should appropriately recognize its scientific significance and provide a platform for the establishment of a socialist market economic system.
