Dr. Zuo Tianjue, a tobacco expert from the U.S.A., held a technical discussion in Jinan on the afternoon of the 15th and the 16th during his visit to China in mid-May. Each of our tobacco research institutes and 33 units concerned in agriculture and health administration attended the meeting. The symposium was chaired by Chen Ruitai, Dean of Shandong Agricultural College and director of the Tobacco Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The technical forum is divided into two sections. In the first paragraph, Mr.Zuo introduced the progress of tobacco research in recent years.
