《中共中央十四届五中全会决议》指出,从“九五”计划开始,将对区域发展战略进行调整,加快中西部地区的发展步伐,逐步缩小地区发展差距,使区域经济更加协调地发展。我国中西部地区,包括18个省、自治区、直辖市,拥有7.45亿人口,占全国人口的58％;823万平方公里,占全国总面积的86％。
The Resolution of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China pointed out: Starting from the Ninth Five-Year Plan, the regional development strategy will be adjusted to speed up the pace of development in the central and western regions and gradually narrow the regional development gap so that the regional economy will develop in a more coordinated manner . The central and western regions of our country, including 18 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government, have 745 million inhabitants, accounting for 58% of the national population and 8,230,000 km 2, accounting for 86% of the total area of the country.
