滦南县川林乡,有耕地4.4万余亩,全部是沙地。1989年列入海河平原农业综合开发区后,全乡人民积极开展了沙地综合开发治理大会战。1988——1991年该乡共投资204.7万元,改造低产田1.8万亩,开发区内实现了水、电、林、田、路综合配套,改善了生产条件和生态环境,取得了明显的开发效益。1991年该乡在县农业开发办公室的直接指导下,在开发区内进行耕作栽培技术改革,依靠科技挖潜力,实施了小麦、花生间套作规模化、模式化栽培技术示范1.02万亩,经滦南县农业科技推广
