This article describes a computer software system for arch dam design. The system can analyze dam stress and abutment stability. 8 types of arch dam can be optimized design. The system has a knowledge base and a reasoning package that can be used to generate initial solutions for more than a dozen parabolic arch dams. The system uses a multi-objective fuzzy optimization approach to select a satisfactory solution. Also provides a design example.
