解放初期我在省农场工作,每到伏天,晚上就到气象台的小楼上乘凉,听荣大姐讲故事。 荣大姐名叫荣嗣谢,早年参加革命工作,她父亲荣鸿胪,抗战前曾任太原警备司令。有一次,荣大姐讲起她的身世,便拉起晋祠花园的来龙去脉: 荣大姐的少女时期,正是民国初年,女权运动方兴未艾。她不甘心闺房的寂寞生活,每天都要到戏园听戏,或者吵闹要上洋学堂。她父亲认为闺女家在外抛头露面有损府上尊严,必须严加约束。可是他身为司令。叱咤风云,就是管教不了千金小姐,为此而伤透了脑筋。于是他采纳了朋友们的建议,在晋祠镇南门外购地十余亩,建造了一座别墅,安置家眷,以期约束小姐,安心读书。
