我在書店里,看到標名“新民主主義教育教程”一書(常春元先生著,上海雜誌公司出版),感到現在有這樣一本書出版,真是很可驚異的事情。買回来一看,覺得這本書介紹老解放區教育,固有可取的地方,但整個說起來,寫得未免過於大膽而草率。首先我們要指出這本書大胆草率的地方,不只表現在它的標名上,尤其表現在它的第三章“中小學校的實施方針、行政組織與領導”這一節裏(該書二三四頁至二六○頁)。最近中央人民政府教育部召開的全國中等教育會議,對於中學的方針、行政組織、和領導等,剛作了一些全國性的暂行规定,還未公佈。全國初等教育會議還未召開。對於這樣重大問題,作者究竟根據什麽寫的呢?仔細看起來,這一節好像根據“華北區普通中學暫行實施辦法草案”,和“華北區小學教育暂行實施辦法”寫的,但又有許多竄改,而竄改得又很不恰當。例如“華北區普通中學暫行實施辦法草案”规定:“中學教育:其任務是…培養具有中等文化水平及基本科學知識的青年…”;而該書把這句話改爲“在於培養學生具有中等文化水平的基本科學知識。”原辦法中所指的中等文化水平,不只是基本科學知識,還包括語文藝術等等,該書竟把這內容竄改錯了。比起華北區中小學暂行實施辦法中的規定,該書又在學校中隨便增加一些會議,随便规定會議的内容和學校工作人員的职責。這一节内其他還有不少竄改或增添不當的地方,我們不必一一舉例了。又如該書一六三頁談到新學制的特點時說:“各級學校都有獨立之目的,下一級學校不是爲上一級學校預備學生,而上一級學校反要從下一級學校的基礎上提高。”這種說法也是很不對的。一九四八年秋發表的“華北區普通中學暫行實施辦法草案”,就已現定“使學生畢業後經過一定的專業訓練參加工
