1. Introduction Forging technology for aeronautical components can be thought of as being largely determined by the characteristics of the materials used. The basic characteristics these materials require are light weight, safe and high reliability. Body material should have higher strength, fracture toughness and excellent heat resistance. The engine should have good high temperature strength and corrosion resistance. Materials having the above characteristics, as compared with the processing of other materials, are generally inferior in processability.
