The nonclassical properties of a monochromatic field interacting with a series of connected three-level atoms are investigated. The Hamiltonian of the atomic field system is used to derive the eigenstates and eigenstates of the total system by using the diagonalization method. Thus the total system evolves over time. The evolution of the variance of the second-order optical coherence and the conjugate observables d_1 = a + a ~ + and d2 = -i (a-a ~ +) over time is calculated.
