Since the 1970s, developed countries such as the United States began to use mathematical models to simulate the process of urban surface runoff response to rainfall events, which are used for urban flood control planning and pipe network optimization. The digitalization of urban drainage network in our country started later, but some achievements have been made. In recent years, many people in the industry have different opinions on whether to use computer software to simulate hydrology, hydraulics and pipe network running status of urban drainage systems. The voices of support and objection come one after another and all kinds of free and fee-based simulation software are also judged by people. Different opinions can be described as foggy.
