图书馆的全部业务活动,可概括为藏书工作和读者工作两大方面,前者为收藏系统,后者为服务系统。评价图书资料工作的好坏,不能只看藏书数量和设备条件,应把为读者服务工作作为主要方面.因为藏书和设备条件只是为读者服务的必要物质基础,而充分利用现有设备条件去满足读者需求的服务活动则是图书馆工作的重心所在。因此,图书馆的工作应围绕为读者服务这个重心而展开,全心全意为读者服务是图书馆的工作宗旨。
