The liver lysate of Sphymazygaena (SZLF) and liverferritin of Dasyatis akajei (DALF) were isolated and purified by ammonium sulfate fractionation salting-out, DEAE anion exchange chromatography and Sephacryl S-300 gel chromatography. Electron microscopy reveals the molecular structure of SZLF and DALF, clarifying that both proteins consist of a protein shell and an iron core.
