In 1861, Rokitansky reported that the pyloric ring is an insurmountable barrier to distal invasion of gastric cancer. This is considered to be the traditional view of the spread of gastric cancer. It is generally believed that the presence or absence of involvement of the duodenum can be used to distinguish between gastric cancer and lymphoma. The incidence of gastric cancer invading the duodenum was 9% to 69%, which was obtained by observing the duodenum under operation and autopsy. The incidence of radiological examination was only 5% to 15%. The authors reviewed the relative incidence of gastric adenocarcinomas and lymphomas across the pyloric spread revealed by a barium contrast study over the past decade. A total of 127 cases were collected, including 102 cases of gastric cancer and 25 cases of lymphoma, all undergoing surgical pathology.
