2004年，在浙江省委、省政府和国家统计局的正确领导下，全省统计系统认真贯彻党的方针政策，坚持以“三个代表”重要思想为指导，紧紧围绕省委、省政府关于全面实施“八八战略”和建设“平安浙江”的重大战略部署，加强统计基础建设，深化统计改革，着力提高统计服务水平，唱响“用数字说话，为发展服务”主旋律，各项统计工作取得了新成绩。全国人大常委会进行统计执法检查和国家统计局进行统计巡查时，都对浙江省的统计工作难予了充分肯定。
