In the past generally believed that the fourth heart sound (S_4) is rarely heard in normal people, its appearance marks the heart abnormalities, which can be used to diagnose heart disease and screening for early detection of coronary heart disease. However, in recent years, the authors report that the detection rate of S_4 in the elderly with normal heart rate can be as high as over 70%. Therefore, it is proposed that S_4 is a normal finding in the elderly and not a sign of cardiovascular disease. However, this new concept has been questioned and opposed by some people. In view of the literature on the detection rate of S 4 multi-line survey of normal
