Development of polymeric materials with advanced properties is of great academic values and has high-tech implications.Polymers loaded with fluorophores are excellent candidates for controlled drug delivery systems due to their unique physicochemicai properties. Some fluorogenic polymers have been fabricated as nanoscopic and microscopic particles and spheres, capsosomes and micelles and applied in drug delivery systems. For most conventional systems, however,it is difficult to monitor the real-time release process since the conventional fluorescent dyes generally emit weakly in aqueous media.Herein,we introduce a novel class of fluorescent materials named as aggregation-induced emission luminogens (AIEgens) into polymer systems and develop them into powerful tools for controlled drug delivery and release process monitor.
