Objective: Several in vivo studies suggested that osteogenic response of bone saturated with continued long-term mechanical loading, but the saturation could be reversed with rest-inserted loading. This suggests that recovery periods would restore bones sensitivity to mechanical stimuli.Furthermore,it has been demonstrated that rest-inserted loading was able to promote mechanosensitivity of osteoblast. As the putative mechanosensors, osteocytes orchestrate bone remodeling by transducing mechanical signal into biological signal. However, the effect of rest-inserted loading on osteocyte remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of rest-inserted loading on the mechanosensitivity of osteocytes.
