　　The newest version of the Japanese Specifications for Roadway Bridges in the format of the load and resistance factor design method has been drafted in December 2012.Thus,attempts are made in this paper to evaluate the general reliability with special emphasis on the reliability index and probability of failure of the bridge design.Special attempts are made also to evaluate the reliability of tsunami breakwaters.
