Cardiovascular effects of ginseng have been demonstrated and most pharmacological actions of ginseng are attributed to ginsenosides,which display anti-myocardial ischemia effects,anti-arrhythmic effects and blood lipids modulation activities.Ocotillol is an aglycone of pseudoginsenoside-F11,which is one of the main components of Panax quinquefolium L.and has been proved to play a key role in protective effect on myocardial ischemia injury.In order to improve the water solubility and/or the pharmacokinetic properties,chemical modifications on the hydroxyl of ginsenosides have been explored and a series of 3-O-derivatives and 12-O-derivatives were obtained.Hoping to demonstrate the influence of side chains with different hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity and C-24 configuration on the biological activities.On the basis of biological evaluation,the struture activity relationships will be concluded.
