There is a continuous need for improving the cutting performance of the existing cutting tool materials,which is affected by a strong competition on the market and also by hard machining materials.Commercial sailon ceramic tools were used for this study.The cutting performance and wear mechanisms of the cutting tools were investigated in dry turning of gray cast iron by using SNGN 120712 inserts at high speeds machining.
