Phytoremediation,basing on heavy metal hyperaccumulating plants,emerging in recent years as an "green" technology of remediation,has been reported to be a cost-effective,non-intrusive,low-cost,heavy-metal reusable and socially accepted technology to remediate polluted soils.Sugarcane has been reported as a promising candidate for phytoremediation on heavy-metal-contaminated soil due to its high biomass,faster growth,tolerance and accumulation of heavy metals such as Cu,Zn and Cd.
