Andalusite(Al2SiO5)is a mineral that converts to Mulite(3Al2O3.2SiO2)and glass phase at 1100-1600oC.It has been seen that glass phase content is about%20 in transformation of Andalusite to Mulite and glass that highest part of this phase is formed by SiO2.Since the main application of Andalusite is in refractory industries and glass phase is considered as a disadvantage in these products,the objective of this study is to do research on decreasing of glass phase by adding Al2O3 to base compound.The process of adding Alumina was carried out via both dry mixing and solvent evaporation methods.The effect of MgO was investigated in dry mixing as well.
