The use of biomaterials from laboratories to clinics requires exhaustive and elaborate studies involving the biocompatibility,toxicity and specific functions of biomaterials for biomedical applications.The repairing and angiogenesis ability of melt-derived 45S5 bioactive glass(45S5)have been widely known by researchers,but not the 58S bioactive glass(BG).New formulations of bioactive glass,the nano-sized 58S bioactive glass(58S-NBG)were used to assess the angiogenesis effect in vitro using the human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs)as well as in vivo wound healing abilities in normal and streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats tested together with conventional sol-gel prepared 58S BG(58S-BG)and 45S5.
