The transport process in chemical engineering processes is of simultaneous mass,heat and momentum transfer.The modeling of such a transport process,especially in turbulent flow condition is a major challenge in chemical process simulation.In this presentation a computational transport model is proposed to simulate the transport processes.In the proposed approach,a Reynolds averaged mass transfer differential equation is used to model the concentration distribution and theoretical equations,called c2-εc equation for the turbulent diffusivity are proposed to achieve the closure to the mass transfer equation system.These equations,so-called Computational Mass Transfer (CMT) equations are to be solved accompanying Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Computational Heat Transfer (CHT) model equations.Some applications of the proposed approach in distillation,chemical absorption and fixed bed reaction are presented.
