A wing that can be deformed the geometrical shape seamlessly and continuously to improve aerodynamic performance of wing is called a morphing wing[1].As the internal structure of the wing to achieve the desirable deformation,a compliant mechanism has been proposed and several studies have been conducted to evaluate the optimum configuration.A part of the authors have studied the structural feature of the morphing wing by adopting the level set based topology optimization approach[2].The optimization problem is formulated to minimize the difference between the deformed and the ideal shapes of the morphing wing,but not maximize the mean compliance as a usual compliant mechanism design.The study found difficulty to include the magnitude and direction of input actuation forces and the actuator locations in design variables on the optimization formulation.
