Basic leucine zipper (bZIP) membrane-bound transcription factors (MTFs) comprise a special group in bZIP family, containing a transmembrane domain (TMD) at the C-terminal.It has been proved that these type transcription factors are key components of signaling pathways in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress responses. However, there are no reports about bZIP MTFs in wheat. In this study, we cloned a bZIP MTFTabZIP74.Sequence analysis indicated that TabZIP74 contained a 906-bp open reading frame (ORF) encoding a 302-amino-acid protein. The transcription factor contained a bZIP DNA-bingding domain at its N-terminal and a transmembrane motif at its C-terminal.Phylogenic analysis showed that TabZIP74 is highly similar to the function-known ZmbZIP60 and OsbZIP74.
