Background, Motivation and Objective The backward acoustic waves propagating in bounded media have been the subject of investigation more than 50 years. The distinguished feature of the backward wave is the opposite orientation of the phase and group velocities. For cutoff frequency, the group velocity of these waves vanishes, whereas the phase velocity remains finite.
