Background, Motivation and Objective Crack is one of the most dangerous process defects in welded joint. Ultrasonic method is one of the most popular means of NDE of weld. The estimation of the depth of crack allows a better estimate of the risk which the crack poses to the equipment, which is very important for weld defect ratings.
