A photo-responsive ligand 1 having a rigid 1,1-bi-2-naphthol(BINOL)backbone ending up with two 5-membered cyclic disulfide moieties were designed,and ligand 1 capped Ag nanoparticle(1@Ag NPs)was synthesized under UV or sunlight irradiation1.1@Ag NPs exhibit a selective recognition towards ClO-in aqueous solution by a dual mode sensing of both fluorescent and colorimetric response.The sensing mechanism is based on the ClO--mediated oxidation of Ag-S bond,resulting in a destroy of 1@Ag NPs2.With the strategy demonstrated here,ClO-in tap water and lake water can be detected quantitatively within 5 s and visualized by the naked eyes.This study offers a new strategy for the design of of dual mode sensing based on stimulus response of noble metal nanoparticles.
