Objective To investigate the occupational stress factors that cause the metabolic syndrome in secondary school teachers and provide the basis for making targeted interventions. Methods A random cluster sampling method was used to select 800 teachers in 5 secondary schools from the schools administered by the Education Bureau of Xihu District of Hangzhou as the survey subjects. The survey was conducted using the unified health questionnaire and occupational stress questionnaire. Physical examination and Biochemical detection, logistic regression model analysis. Results The prevalence of secondary school teacher MS was 21.88%. The risk of MS in high and moderate occupational stressors were 4.255 and 2.951 times that of those who lack occupational stress respectively. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that over-work, task conflict, responsibility, business stress and somatic stress are the risk factors for MS. The OR values were 1.050, 1.066, 1.049, 1.058 and 1.039 respectively (all P <0.05) . Conclusions Over-work, task conflict, sense of responsibility, business stress and somatic tension are the occupational stress risk factors leading to MS MS among middle school teachers.
