深具发展潜力的便携多媒体市场已成为电子业界掘金的宝库,众多 IC 设计公司对此市场均已展开积极布局。以MP3单芯片扬名的珠海炬力集成电路公司日前宣布取得MIPS MIPS32 4KEc Pro 和 MIPS32 M4K Pro 授权,并计划以 MIPS32核心为基础,开发下一代便携式多媒体产品。在 MIPS 与炬力集成的授权签约仪式上,MIPS 科技公司亚洲区运营副总裁 James Mac Hale 表示,过去业界认为高性能及低功耗可分别成为不同的卖点,但近来则日益倾向于理想的解决方案需兼顾高性能与低功耗特点,MIPS32核心便是同时达成此二目标的代表成果。MIPS 公司为系统芯片设计人员提供定制的解决方案,使其能实现高性能、低功耗的消费性产品应用。其中,MIPS32 4KEc Pro 由于能提供全功能的 MMU(Memory Management Unit)和大尺寸 Cache 核心,因此特别适用于 PMP 设计,以及适合运行在 Linux 和其他操作系统环境下基于视频的应用。
