尊敬的朋友們、同志們: 我怀着十分荣幸的心情,参加1964年北京科学討論会的开幕典礼。我代表中国政府和中国人民向会議表示衷心的祝賀,向出席会議的亚洲、非洲、拉丁美洲和大洋洲的各国科学家表示热烈的欢迎。亚洲、非洲、拉丁美洲和大洋洲的科学家能够以主人翁的身份,自己筹备和召开这样一次盛况空前的多科性的国际科学会議,这是一件具有历史意义的大事。它标志着我們四大洲科学事业的复兴和繁荣,标志着我們四大洲科学家团結合作的空前发展。这次会議将检閱我們四大洲科学家的力量,交流我們科学研究的成果和經驗,探索在我們各自国家里发展科学
Dear friends, Comrades, I am honored to attend the opening ceremony of the 1964 Beijing Science Symposium. On behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, I hereby express my heartfelt congratulation to the meeting and extend a warm welcome to the scientists from other countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Oceania who attended the meeting. It is a historic event that scientists in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Oceania, as masters of their own identity, should prepare for and hold such an unprecedented multi-disciplinary international scientific conference. It marks the rejuvenation and prosperity of our scientific undertaking on four continents and marks the unprecedented development of unity and cooperation among scientists on four continents. This meeting will review the forces of scientists on our four continents, exchange the fruits and experiences of our scientific research and explore ways to develop science in our respective countries
