Seung Mo Park, a South Korean sculptor, exhibited a group of iconic portraits of solid portrait called “Solid illustration” at the art exhibition in Blank Space in New York City. What is striking about this group of works is that they are made of gauze-like barbed wire layers. Park used the projector to project the portrait and then use it as a base, laying several layers of barbed wire on top of it in different directions, carefully cutting, bending and carving out these vivid portraits. Due to the different density of barbed wire, the blank space will be different. With the help of light, these portraits not only have the depth and dimension but also the shades of darkness and shade.
