在天水市农科所的指导下,1976年在天水市西十里良种场的杂交种鉴定中,水45×太183中熟单交组合表现突出,1977年在本场试验,比对照金皇后增产89.2%,亩产达到1635斤,当年冬在海南岛进行繁殖和试验,同时进行了反交试验,分别比对照品种天玉一号增产83%和56%,亩产1368斤和1164斤。1978年参加了地区和市内的区域试验,同时大面积示范一百多亩。试验示范包括山、川、水、旱不同条件,无一处减产,证明增产效果显著,适应性广。增产幅度从23.5%到172%,对照品种主要是天玉一号。七个示范点的平均单产
