奥地利斯太尔公司的AUG A3模块化武器系统是AUG枪族的进一步改进型。A3系列的指导思想就是武器系统采用模块化组件设计,标准步枪在不需要额外工具的情况下可快速更换枪管等相关部件,切换为狙击步枪、轻机枪,以满足不同战场环境下的需要。 AUG A3系列在保持原有无托结构的基础上,新增设了全尺寸的皮卡汀尼导轨,进一步扩展了战术功能。枪管有455mm、508mm、600mm三种长度可选,冷锻加工,内膛镀铬。枪身采用高强度工程塑料,有黑色和橄榄绿两种颜色可选。在不需要工具的情况下,可快速更换枪机以及抛壳窗组件实现左、右抛壳的切换。配用弹药依然为5．56mm北约弹,同时6．8mm SPC枪弹也正在评估试验中。
