Ricardo began developing electromagnetically-coupled kinetic energy storage devices several years ago and its first two generations of flywheel energy storage technology were designed to provide the driving force for all-electric vehicles using hybrid systems such as small cars and buses. Subsequent studies show that Ricardo’s research and development of TorqStor technology has been facilitated by the higher efficiency achieved with frequent energy storage and use.
