China Chery Automobile Limited made a startling 2005 decision: It will partner with Visionary Vehicles of Malcolm Bricklin and begin exporting cars to the United States by 2007. At the Detroit Auto Show in January 2006, another Chinese car manufacturer, Geely Automobile, also brought a considerable response to the display of “China Dragon” and several other models intended to be exported to the United States from 2008 onwards. Chery plans to sell for $ 20,000 a class of cars that currently cost $ 30,000 in the U.S. market, while Geely’s target is to sell a base model for $ 7,500.
