语言和文化是紧密相连不可分割的,一方面语言反映文化,另一方面语言又受到文化的制约,可以说语言不能脱离文化而单独存在。作为文化的载体,无论世界上哪个国家哪个地区,他们的语言都会有文化的烙印,将文化客观地反映出来。不同民族有着不同的风俗习惯、文化特点,而它们又都是通过语言表现出来。英语教学是语言教学,理所当然离不开文化教育,在语言教学中必须加强文化教学的渗透。尤其中西方文化各自传承的时期里,其不同的历史、文化、社会背景导致了中西方的文化差异。这就要求英语教师在英语教学过程中,不仅对语音、词汇等方面进行教学,还要加强对学生中西方文化差异教学的内容,才可以使学生在实际生活中真正运用较地道的英语进行交流。
