Hg elemental separation and specific detection techniques were used in the gas-in-phase thermochromatography to measure the radioactivity of more than 20 radioactive Hg isotopes from (180) Hg to (209) Hg produced by bombardment of natural lead targets with 600 MeV (18) An independent cross-section describes the experimental setup, detection techniques, gamma-ray analysis, and the method of extracting Hg isotope production cross-sections from the gamma activity of the descending progeny.
