经历过“文化大革命”的人无不知晓“红宝书”。那时,人们饭可以不吃,觉可以不睡,但“红宝书”不可不带,连结婚送礼也必少不了一本“红宝书”。严格意义上讲,“红宝书”应包括各种正式出版的毛泽东著作。但由于《毛主席语录》发行量最大、印制最精美、读者最多,且封面又是由红塑料封皮特制,人们心目中的“红宝书”往往专指《毛主席语录》。那么,这种把毛泽东著作和毛泽东思想中的警句和主要观点汇集成册的《毛主席语录》,是怎样编辑出版,又是如何风靡全国乃至全球的呢?
