As the safety of edible agricultural products is increasingly paid attention to by consumers, Shanghai will carry out a “carpet-like” comprehensive “physical examination” of 200,000 hm2 (3 million mu) of basic farmland for the production of edible agricultural products in the suburbs in order to prevent the “bones” Pollution. Zheng Zonghe, deputy director of Shanghai Leading Group for Edible Farm Product Safety Supervision, told reporters that the first survey of the quality of farmland environment started in April 2002 is the first since Shanghai was founded. Census covers soil quality of farmland, quality of irrigation water and air quality. The test will mainly get the most relevant food safety of agricultural products such as heavy metals, organic chlorine, fluoride and other data.
