清代著名画家华喦(1682-1756年),字秋岳,一字空尘,号新罗山人,又号白沙道人、离垢居士、东园生、布衣生等。福建临汀人,侨居扬州,以卖画为生。他的花鸟画最为杰出,在人物、山水、草虫、动物等方面也极具造诣,堪称全能画家。华函在艺术上力求古法,但并非一味死守,强调“但能用我法,孰与古人量”(《离垢集》)。他在继承明清写意花鸟的基础上,受恽寿平影响,形成了自己独特的艺术风格。他的用笔松秀古拙,柔中带刚;用墨华滋明透,变化多端,加之章法新奇空灵,
