In this study, the hemodynamic effects of α-human atrial natriuretic polypeptide (α-hANP) on anesthetized rats were observed. Arterial blood pressure (ABP), left ventricular pressure (LVP), left ventricular dp / dt (LV dp / dt), cardiac index (CI) and total peripheral resistance index (TPRI) were measured after intravenous injection of α-hANP (3μg / Were significantly decreased, while heart rate (HR) no significant change. After cutting off the vagus nerve, although the degree of decrease of α-hANP and LV dp / dt decreased, it was not statistically significant compared with that before cutting off. Our results show that the antihypertensive mechanism of α-hANP in anesthetized rats is the reduction of total peripheral resistance caused by peripheral vasodilatation and cardiac output caused by the inhibition of myocardial contractility.
