Washington is considered a great general, one of the founders of the Republic. He is the first president of the United States and is known as the “National Father.” On February 22, 1732, George Washington was born in the small port of Breezy near the Potomac River. His birthday was designated as a national holiday. When war broke out between the British and American colonies in 1774, Washington led the mainland and British troops to fight bravely. In the end, we won the American Revolutionary War and a new country was born. Therefore, Washington was elected the first president of the United States. He was reappointed for two terms, retired in 1797 and died three years later. The capital, Washington, stands tall, white Washington Monument.
