Schistosomula Schistosoma is more sensitive to hydrogen peroxide-mediated killing. In this paper, we report that peritoneal macrophages infected with Schistosoma mansoni can reduce the insecticidal effect of hydrogen peroxide, whether through specific or nonspecific stimulation. The authors collected peritoneal exudate cells (PECs) from CD-1 female mice, some of which were uninfected, others were infected with Schistosoma mansoni for 8 to 10 weeks, or BCG or 3, respectively, intraperitoneally 5 and 4 days prior to collection % Brewer’s Thioglycollate (THGL).
