“深圳国际水墨双年展”是由文化部批准、深圳市人民政府主办、深圳画院承办的常设性、国际性文化交流项目,旨在弘扬水墨画艺术传统,促进东西方文化交流。作为每两年一届的文化盛会,“第八届深圳国际水墨双年展”特邀关山月美术馆共同承办,于2013年12月1日至17日在关山月美术馆展出。前7届“深圳国际水墨双年展”留下了当代艺术家和理论家们探索和讨论水墨艺术的足迹,“第八届深圳国际水墨双年展”以“70后”青年艺术家的水墨创作成果为基础,一如既往地展现了水墨艺术的当代形态,持续研究传统水墨画在当今文化语境中的生存和转型课题,推动水墨艺术以鲜明的时代特色、民族身份和更新的活力走向世界,使之成为国内外艺术家和理论家们共同关注和参与的一个学术课题。
