茶细蛾在我场及安化茶区属于一种新兴害虫,据湖南农学院副教授陈常铭1957—1959年间在安化调查,尚未发现此种虫害,中国茶科所赵启民同志等认为:茶细蛾在我国茶树上成为一种主要害虫是发生在1972年以后。这是切合安化茶区实际的。从1973年以来,茶细蛾在我场已逐渐发展,发生范围及为害严重性与日俱增。这种虫主要为害茶树嫩叶,同时虫包內积贮黑色虫粪,对茶叶产量,品质极为不利,特别是采制高档茶影响极大。
