这是一个感动中国的爱心群体:137名乡邮员奔波在137条乡村邮路上,14年如一日,用真爱真情帮扶210户家庭280位孤寡老人和残疾人,演绎出一幕幕尊老敬老、扶孤济贫的动人故事——在苏中革命老区江苏省如皋市,137名乡邮员在完成邮件报刊投递任务的同时,在漫漫7300多公里的乡间邮路上帮扶210户家庭280位孤寡老人和残疾人,走出了137条春风荡漾的“爱心邮路”。“请愿”催生“爱心邮路”“爱心邮路”的诞生,缘于一次老百姓“请愿”。1998年11月中旬的一天下午,城西乡鹿门村村主任和两名村代表满头大汗找到城西支局局长,见面第一句就说:
